Subconscious Symptoms and Vibration: Why Your Body Is Responding the Way It Is

How I Understand Subconscious Symptoms
When I work with clients in hypnotherapy, I’m never trying to get rid of symptoms just for the sake of getting rid of them
.I’m always looking for the reason the symptoms exist in the first place.
I believe this deeply: A person’s symptoms always make sense when you understand the context in which they were formed.
The subconscious isn’t random. It’s protective. And it doesn’t create symptoms to torture us. It creates them to help us survive something.
Why “Calm and Relaxed” Isn’t Enough
For example, if someone grows up in an environment with a threatening or unpredictable person, the subconscious may develop hypervigilance.
That might show up as:
• light or disrupted sleep
• an overactive fight-or-flight response
• tension held in the jaw, shoulders, or gut
• constant scanning of the environment
Those symptoms appear because at one point, being alert was necessary.
So I’m not interested in simply putting someone into hypnosis and saying, you feel calm and relaxed now.
That misses the point.
If the subconscious decided vigilance was required, I need to understand why before I ask it to let go.
The Subconscious Doesn’t Update on Its Own
Here’s where people often get confused.
The subconscious does not understand the passage of time.
And it does not update automatically.
So even if:
• you’re no longer in that environment
• you’re an adult now
• you’re objectively safe
the subconscious may still be running an old protective strategy.
That’s why symptoms can linger long after the situation has changed.
Why “I’ve Already Dealt With That” Isn’t Always True
Over the years, when I prompt the subconscious to bring forward information that might be relevant to a client’s symptoms, I hear the same responses again and again:
• That came up, but I already dealt with it
.• That happened so long ago, it can’t still matter.
• That seems too trivial to have an impact.
People dismiss experiences that are still influencing them because they don’t understand how the subconscious works.
You may have put something to bed consciously.
That doesn’t mean your subconscious got the memo.
How to Tell If Something Is Still Active
So how do you know if something unresolved is still affecting you on a subconscious level?
A few clues:
• Do you have what you want in every area of your life?
If not, there may be a belief or protective pattern keeping you stuck.
• Do you have reactions you can’t fully explain?
You may feel “over” a breakup, but still be guarded, mistrustful, or on edge.
• Do you sleep lightly, wake at every sound, or hold tension without realizing it?
That’s often a nervous system still bracing for something.
These are signals that there may still be something active on a SC level..
How Subconscious Symptoms Affect Your Vibration
Now let’s talk about vibration in a very practical way.
I think of vibration as your available energy.
Your capacity to live your life, respond well, and make things happen.
Let’s say, just for illustration, you have 100 points of energy available each day.
If you’re spending energy on:
• suppressing old experiences
• staying vigilant
• holding tension
• avoiding what hasn’t been resolved
that’s energy you don’t have available for creativity, connection, or change.
This is how subconscious symptoms quietly lower vibration over time.
The Beach Ball Analogy
Unresolved experiences are like trying to hold a beach ball underwater.
If you’ve ever done that, you know it takes constant effort.
And if you let up for even a moment, the beach ball shoots to the surface with equal force.
A lot of people are using a significant amount of their daily energy just trying to keep their past submerged.
What if you didn’t have to do that anymore?
What if the beach ball was allowed to float safely to the surface and then… it was simply dealt with?
What Changes When Energy Is Freed
When old experiences are resolved on a subconscious level, all of that energy becomes available again.
That’s what people experience as:
• a higher vibration
• more clarity
• better sleep
• less reactivity
• more capacity
Not because they “thought better thoughts,” but because they’re no longer paying an invisible energy tax.
Why This Matters for High Vibe Living
This is why high vibe living isn’t about pretending everything is fine.
It’s about understanding why your system adapted the way it did and helping it update.
When the subconscious no longer feels it has to protect you in outdated ways, your energy naturally rises.
And that changes everything.
